Successful Together: Country Fried Steak

Country Fried Steak

I have made this many times in the past and Ed and I both really like it, so I figured it was time that I posted here! I suppose beef cubed steak would work just as well as the pork, but I just normally get pork. Try and find cubed steaks that are light pink in could with out much fat or dark meat in it. You will get a more lean steak with better flavor that way! The batter I make is quite flavorful, so feel free to experiment with the spices some :)

.67 lb pork cubed steak (cut in to 4 steaks)
60g (1/2 cup) white flour
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon diced onion
1 teaspoon powdered chicken bouillon
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 to 1 cup water
3 tablespoons olive oil

White Gravy From here (or your choice!)

Mix all of your dry ingredients together using a fork or a wisk, until well blended.
Heat your oil over medium heat in skillet. While oil is heating, add water to your flour mix until desired consistency is reached. (you want a thick, almost pancake batter consistency). Dip your steaks in the batter and fry until golden brown (about 5-7 minutes on each side)

We served ours with green beans and canned sliced new potatoes (with some rosemary seasoning)
Each pork steak is 7 Points +, Gravy is 1 Points+ green beans are 0 and the potatoes are 1 Points+
AWESOME yummy dinner!

  1. I really like the idea of using pork, because I have never done that before. I always use beef, probably because of habit. Looks great!

  2. Thanks so much for sharing another fantabulous recipe - this sounds wonderful! I SO appreciate the sweet comments you leave at my blog too. =) Thanks - Have a beautiful week!
