Review: Beanfields Crispylicious Bean & Rice Chips

Stop what you are thinking, unless you are thinking amazing things. :D When I applied for this product review for Beanfields Bean & Rice Chips I was excited and nervous at the same time.  Think about it. A healthier snack chip. There are all kinds of ways this could go wrong. After review the ingredients, mainly beans, rice and oils, my interest was piqued and I was so excited to get my sampler box in the mail. DELICIOUS!

Beanfields is a family owned, values-based company. They love them some beans. All of their chips are Corn Free, Gluten Free and do not include GMO (genetically modified) ingredients. Beanfields believes that great taste, high nutrition and allergen free can and should co-exist. A servings of these chips packs 4 grams of fiber and 4 grams of complete protein.

1 serving

In my sample pack, I was lucky enough to receive the following varieties to samples:

Naturally Unsalted
Sea Salt
Sea Salt & Pepper
Pico de Gallo
Vegan Nacho

I shared the chips with some of my friends and co workers to get their opinion of them as well. All of the chips were super tasty and filling. They were crunchy, flavorful, and satisfying. The Pico de Gallo we my and my friend Stacy's favorite, while our hubby's liked the Nacho ones best.  For those of you watching your sodium, the Naturally Unsalted would be a great option for you! One serving only has 5 mg of sodium!!! My boss and coworker both enjoyed the Unsalted variety. The other varieties range from 140-190 mg (see pics below).

All varieties are 4 Points+ Per Serving :)

I was a big fan of the texture of the chips. They are not greasy and you can see the detail below:

These chips are really delicious and I am anxious to get some more in the mail.I love that they sell these great snacks in two sized bags, 1.5 oz and 6 oz. The bags in the above picture of the varieties are the 6 oz size. The prices are reasonable, averaging about $1.19-$1.49 for a 1.5 oz bag and $2.99-$3.99 for the 6 oz bags. You can look for a store that sells them locally near you, or if you live in an area similar to where I live and the stores do not carry this brand you have 3 options :D

1)  Beanfields is kind enough to provide a form on their website that you can take to your local grocer, requesting that start carrying the product
3) Shop from Amazon!

I thoroughly enjoyed my samples and Beanfields has changed my mind on what chips should be. These quality and wholesome chips are farmed and made in the USA.  I learned a lot while researching this product and sampling them. Some of my favorite facts include:

Beans are the only food listed twice on the USDA Food plate, both as a vegetable and as a protein
Beans take less water to grow, per pound, than any other protein source

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

OXO Salad Spinner {Review & Giveaway}

May 3rd (12:01 AM EST)  - May 9th! (11:59 PM EST)

Kitchen gadgets are always a fun purchase and there are tons of do-dads out there for just about any job. There are a lot of these items that are a one and done type of product, where you use it once and then it goes back in the gadget drawer or cabinet, not to be used or seen again for quite a while!

The OXO Salad Spinner is one kitchen gadget that I never knew I needed! We all know it can be a hassle when you rinse your salad greens, or even berries to dry them before serving without using tons of paper towels or waiting for ever. This handle little gizmo does all of the work for you! A quick, green alternative :)

The OXO Salad Spinner is so easy to use! You simple rinse your greens/berries, put on the lid, pump the center button a few times, Push the brake to stop it and you are ready to go! I was impressed with the amount of water that it got off of my lettuce (click the picture above for a larger view) The lettuce stated fresh and crisp in the storage container for at least 48 hours (that is when I used the rest of what I had rinsed).  The convenience of having fresh rinsed berries and lettuce help make it easier to make better eating choices by having the preparation already done.

With the lettuce I rinsed and spun above, I made a GLORIOUS Tuna Bite Salad, using some Tuna Bites from this recipe, fresh grape tomatoes, grated parmigiana cheese, some croutons and an oil & vinegar dressing. So yummy!!

Some of my favorite aspects are:
-Easy to Use
-No Slip Ring on bottom
-Convenience: Rinse, Spin & Store
-Top Rack Dishwasher Safe
-Healthier food, faster!

**OXO provided me with 2 Salad Spinners free of charge, one to sample and review and one to giveaway. I was not provided additional compensation to write this review and all opinions are my own, unless otherwise specified.

Cook'n Recipe Software {Review and Giveaway!}

Do you ever get so overwhelmed with all of your bookmarks and pins of online recipes? How about all those pieces of paper that have scribbles of recipes on them? I have tons and tons of recipes all over the place and Cook'n has finally helped me put some organization behind the chaos!

Some of my favorite features of Cook'n are:

  • You can enter you own recipes AND add pictures!
  • Use Cook'n to search and capture online recipes
  • Create and organize cookbooks, and sort them by chapters to make it easier to find what you are looking for
  • Search for recipes by what INGREDIENTS YOU HAVE ON HAND!! :)
  • Change recipe servings sizes and it automatically re-figures the amount of ingredients needed
  • MENU PLANNING!!!! :D
  • The software analyzes the nutritional values of recipes
When you enter in the ingredients for your recipes, it helps you develop a shopping list, which is sorted by location in the grocery store, separating by produce, baking items, meats, etc! Any thing to help simplify life is a wonderful thing!

Once you get a decent compilation of all your favorite recipes, you can even print a cookbook :) The software can be a little overwhelming at first but the developer offers tons of great step by step tutorials and even youtube videos to get you started.

I even found this awesome Bloopers Reel, if you need a good laugh :)

Visit their site and check out all of the cool ways that Cook'n can help you get better organized and start cooking up a storm! They have given me a special promotion code to hand out to my readers that you can get 50% off !!  When you go to check out, simply enter mb-success in the coupon code blank.

I really fell in love with Cook'n. It is a great product and the company is very interactive and happy to help with anything that comes up.

* I was provided with a free copy of the Cook'n software in order to complete this review, but I was not compensated in any way. All of the opinions are my own. :)

Welcome Home Brands Paper Baking Products Review

Ever put a cake in the oven and realize you forgot to spray or grease the pan? Do you like to bake cakes and other goodies to give away as gifts but find a hard time wrapping it up for safe transport?
WelcomeHomeBrands has worked out these kinks for you! When I first saw the products, I had a huge question mark in my head wondering if such things were really possible. I tried the round bundt pan this morning and had much success! I still have a cupcake cup as well as a small loaf pan to try, but I know I will be just as happy with those as I am the bundt pan. It is neat that you have you choice of pre-printed designs for the pans, so you can get them tailored to pretty much any occasion. These little do-dads are made to handle heat up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, perfect to accommodate most baking projects!! They do suggest if you are baking something sticky, you can spray the pans and it will not effect their performance.

The pans

enter the batter

peel and serve! No need to spray!
Want the recipe for this cake? Here it is!

If you would be interested in trying these products, you can purchase them through Amazon, or they are running a special for assortment samplers on their webpage at WelcomeHomeBrands.com.

In addition to the paper products, they have some ceramic products that seem pretty neat too. These products include fruit and veggie bowls with drainage holes and saucers that come with them.
